Crystal Pepsi on the Comeback, Pepsico Says.

Nostalgia for retro ‘90s fads has resurrected its latest product of a bygone era, Crystal Pepsi. According to PepsiCo, the iconic crystal clear cola will be available this summer across major retail locations beginning July 11th in Canada and August 8th in the US.
“We’ve always had a special place in our heart for Crystal Pepsi, and there has been an overwhelming amount of support to bring it back,” says Stacy Taffet, senior director, marketing, Pepsico.
The company launched the beverage all the way back in 1992, but pulled it from retail store shelves just two years later in 1994. The decision to revive Crystal Pepsi comes from a continual popular trend of companies leveraging consumers’ fond memories of past products to boost sales.
This trend has been accelerated by social media like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook which gives consumers a platform to share and relive these nostalgia-fueled experiences, often creating large networks of fans who hope for the return of some of their favorite products from decades past. After more than a decade off shelves, the Coca-Cola Company brought back Surge in 2014 and General Mills announced the return of French Toast Crunch.
