Blue Bunny Ice Cream Ready for $644K ExpansionHarvill Industries
Wells Enterprises, manufacturers of Wells Blue Bunny Ice Cream, was recently awarded $644,400 in tax breaks by the state board of Iowa that will be used to finance a future expansion in the city of Le Mars. Once completed, the upcoming expansion is estimated to create roughly 20 jobs for the local community of Le Mars, Iowa. The tax breaks given to Wells Enterprises for the Le Mars expansion were approved by the Iowa Economic Development Authority on Friday of last week. This new expansion includes plans for a 12,000 sqft. ice cream production facility equipped with brand new multi product production line equipment, and is projected to cost around $19.3M. The upcoming ice cream expansion also features plans to install extra hardening equipment within the new production facility Wells Enterprises has two ice cream production facilities currently in operations in the city of Le Mars, with this future edition bringing the grand total up to three. The ice cream company is privately owned and provides the community with roughly 2,000 jobs. Once the new facility is complete, we can take that number of jobs up to around 2,020.
