Engineering Change for Female Engineers

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) launched an inspiring new video about ladies in engineering during the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) convention not too long ago. The movie, Engineering Change, features quite a lot of outstanding business leaders, together with Michèle Dix, Managing Director, Crossrail 2 and Rachel Skinner, a Director at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, who speak in regards to the obstacles that women often face within the engineering world.   In addition, they cite the necessity to make engineering careers more accessible by showcasing female engineers – not simply women who’ve reached the highest of the professional ladder but those that have managed to attain that while also having a family.   We will only tap into this wider career pool by making ourselves more inclusive and enticing, and making this occur is a challenge for the entire industry. We’re able to begin with an open, candid dialogue about what’s holding us again and the steps that may be taken – in each a sensible and cultural sense – to allow a shift. We hope this movie, and the main inspirational figures who feature in it and wish to deliver change, actually kick starts this debate.
